Dental Assistant
Job Description
Position Summary:
Performs the usual and customary procedures of a dental assistant within the compliance of state regulations. In addition, employee must maintain an aseptic work area, present organizational skills, be self-motivated, coordinate patient flow and educate patients on proper oral hygiene care.
Job Requirements:
- Greet patient/parent(s)/guardians(s)
- 4-handed dental assisting
- Sufficient knowledge of dental terminology
- Application of preventative sealants
- Perform coronal polishing, fluoride application and scaling (above the gums ONLY)
- Charting of all dental procedures
- Pre-op and Post-op instructions
- Sterilize and disinfect all dental instruments and materials
- Set up instruments for dental procedures
- Take digital dental radiographs
- Maintain a clean and organized sterilization area
- Follow OSHA guidelines
- Keep operatories between patients
- Ability to speak, understand, and write fluently in English
- Have correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Physical Requirements:
- Must be in good physical condition and able to withstand the stress and demands of an active practice.
- Must be able to endure long hours of standing, walking, stooping, bending, and sitting.
- Manual dexterity, good hand-eye coordination, adequate vision and hearing are necessary to complete daily tasks.
